PTI Release in Review....

It's Papertrey Ink July Release time.  Today is our 3rd Group Post.  We have some fun crafty goodies to share, perfect for all you stamps and scrapbookers.  Let's get started!

First off, a new set of stamps, dies and papers.  It's called Travelers Journal.  I created a journal to take on our next vacation....

There is a large die that you can create a cover out of any cutable material.  I used white card stock for this book.  The front uses stamps from the new set Come like it Hot, along with the Traveler's Journal Adventure stamps.  There is a new cover plate called Cover Plate: Scallops.  I did a watercolor wash and then used that die.  I used the negatives from that die to create the water.  The frame die you see here also comes in a set with the cover die, called Traveler's Journal: Outer Cover.  It was hard to get a good shot, but if you look close, you can see a thin sentiment that says adventure. That also comes in the cover die set.

The elastic cord will also be available so you can create you own books.  They are so easy to put together and the possibilities are endless here!

Inside the cover, I have 3 mini books.....

Here you can see that I have them all attached with the black elastic cord, holding them securely inside...

The pages for the mini books will be available to purchase.  They come in the Linen cardstock.  I made 3 covers just by measuring out 3 different colors of PTI cardstock....

I have a few pages on the inside of the journal that will be ready to go for vacation time.  I used the set from Monthly Moments called Journal Accessories to create the lines journal pages.  On the right side of this layout, I used the new watercolor paper from What the Doodle: Map, to create a matching watercolor piece inside the book.  I added the flamingo from Some like it Hot, to bring in the tropical feel.

Here is a shot of the next page.  I used one of the coloring sheets from the What the Doodle: Map paper to decorate this page.  I can print out an instagram photo to add to this page.  Those fun little die cuts are from the Traveler's Journal: Outer Cover set, as well.

On the next page, I have a vellum pocket cut from the new die called, Traveler's Journal: Envelope.   The die set comes wit the little circle pieces so you can create you own closure.  I used brad to fasten them to the vellum and some floss that wraps around to close the envelope.

The frame that I used for the cover has a middle negative and it works perfectly for little insert cards. They fit just right down inside the envelope.  I pulled out a Moments Inked set called Moments Inked: Remembered, to create these little inserts, along with small images from Monthly Moments: July and What the Doodle: Map.

My last project is a card using these same stamps and dies.

On the cover of my book, I used the negatives from the Cover Plate: Scallops....well here I used the actual cover plate.  I glued part of it down after stamping the washi image from Traveler's Journal: Adventure.  Then I did a mist of black ink over the top.  I added in some glitter washi, an arrow die and the "Journey" from the cover die set.  I covered that die cut in glossy accents to give it some shine.

I tucked a little piece of vellum in behind with the sentiment, "What is life but one grand..." behind the word Journey to  complete the card.

Summertime Inspirations...

Today's Papertrey Ink peaks are all about Summer Inspiration.  I had so much creating with these new products and I am excited to share.  The color combos of summer make great cards!

This first card uses the new set called Some Like it Hot.

IMG_3344

I used the Outline Stamp set to create this watercolor background.  I heat embossed the image and then came in with Peerless watercolors.  I stamped out and die cut the pineapple and added it to the card.  The sentiment is from the Some Like it Hot set as well.  I love these sentiments because they die cut out so easy.  I added in some rain drops to finish off the card.

I kept my next card super CAS.  Maile has a new set called Tropics and its gorgeous!

IMG_3347

First, I stamped these 2 leaf images on the card front.  I added lots of Copic detail to each leaf and then added some gray shading so they would stand off the card front.  I stamped and colored the flower from the Some like it Hot set, along with a sentiment from that same set.  Super easy!

So that is it for Day 2.  We have another fun day tomorrow, so I hope you stop back by.  There will be lots more to see today over on Nichole's blog so head over there to check it out!

Sweet Inspirations...

Hey there crafty friends!  Thanks for stopping in today!  It's Day 1 of Group Posts over at Papertrey Ink and we have some fun stuff to share today! It's all about the new Tiny Town Sweet Shoppe.

IMG_3341

For my project, I created a little candy box full of hershey's kisses!

IMG_3319

The dies are an addition to the Tiny Town: Basics Die set.  Adding in the adorable awning and the window boxes and flowers....so fun!

IMG_3324

I finished the box and attached the front of the awning to the box, leaving the back flap open and without adhesive.

I used brads and my crop-o-dile to close the box with the handle that comes with the basic dies.

IMG_3326

I love the all the little details you can add on.  I cut the window boxes and flowers out of white and then colored them with Copics to make it even easier.

IMG_3335

I created a card with the sweet theme, as well.

IMG_3336

In the background, I used the new Banner Cover Plate to create a mask and then used my Clarity Stencil Brushes to add in some light color.  I heat embossed a lolly pop on vellum and added in some Copic color on the back.  I attached to Basic Bookmark 3 die cut.  I stamped the sentiment, added in some twine and then put the focal point on to the stenciled card base.
