Once upon a time I used to spend a lot of time in the card aisle! I loved looking for funny ones, romantic ones, cute ones and just reading the insides! These days....I don't go there. I can't spend $4-$5 dollars on a card when I know I can come home and make one. So I was walking by the card isle and something caught my eye...I had to stop...and take a pic! hehe!
I do love this card, in fact I thought about buying it! But then I thought...nope...I have Bitty Box paper at home and some apples that really need some attention. Here is what happened when I got home....
I was pretty excited how it turned out! This will make a great addition to my teacher card stash! So maybe I might have to go and hang out in the card aisle some more! (Even though I obviously can't spell aisle..isle..aisle!)
**I challenge you to go and find some card inspiration too! Go check out the cards you have been given or even the card aisle! Whip something up...come back and leave a link in the comments! If I have enough playing along to turn this into a challenge, there might have to be a $10 PTI gift certificate thrown into the mix! I am going to close this challenge on Sunday, April April 3rd at midnight CST! :)**
Have a great day!

What a fun idea! Your teacher card is so cute - and even better than the store one! ;)
ReplyDeleteCard aisle here I come!
What a great idea girl!!! This would make a SUPER challenge for sure :) Hope I get some time to play along :)
ReplyDeleteYour card is AWESOME! I can see why you are soooo happy with it!!!
This is adorable! Love the colors and those apples look so yummy! I may need to head to Target today!!
ReplyDeleteGreat card. I like yours better!!!
ReplyDeleteLove it, Laurie!! Great way to find inspiration!
ReplyDeletelove this idea! cute card!
ReplyDeleteLaurie........HOW PERFECT!!! I just love your take on the card you saw. I, too, am totally guilty of not going down "that aisle" anymore.....but, maybe I should! Great idea for some inspiration!
ReplyDeletesuper cute! i even love yours better :) love the PTI goodies you used!! I have a card that i'm about to post, i got the inspiration from another card maker ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is just perfect Laurie! Perfect! Love those apples and the paper you used! I use to LOVE going down the card isle as well. Just like you those prices are awful and I know I could make something better, hee!
ReplyDeleteLOL, this is so funny, because I often do the same thing when I'm at our big book store...although I go there so I can say, "What? I can't believe they are charging $12 for this when I could make one twice as nice!!" LOL Love this teacher card...as a teacher, I would love to get it :) Great CASE!!
ReplyDeleteLaurie what a great card! I would never think to look at cards in the store. You continue to amaze me with your creativity! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSo funny!
ReplyDeleteI have always loved cards...
notecards...
thinking of you's...
name it!
But I can't buy them now...not when I can make them!
In fact...I collect Hallmark's singing snowmen...they didn't have one last year and was so excited to see them again this past Christmas...went to get one. $30! Unless I bought 3 cards...then $15. Took over 30 minutes looking for ones I would buy...nothing.
Finally got 3 $.99 money holders even though I will never use them:)
Your card...
so much prettier than the store bought one!
And a fantastic inspiration idea!
Cute card Laurie - that apples card in the store was a great spot. You CASE'd it like a dream ;)
ReplyDeleteI'll be sure to see if I can play in the next couple of days! Hugs, Ruth S
Well done Laurie!! Both in resisting the purchase of the card, and in creating your version of the card. I actually like yours better.
ReplyDeleteAdorable - will definitely have to CASE this as I too have that set and it's been neglected! I've avoided the card aisle too but I am now going to look and take some pics for inspiration! TFS!!
ReplyDeleteI do love the card you found in the store! But I like yours too...so great we can get inspiration from the cards without having to buy them!
ReplyDeleteOh this is totally fab Laurie! I will have to check out the card isle next time I am down town to see if I can pick up some ideas too!

How funny... I can just see us all in a card aisle somewhere with our phones out taking pictures of cards! Your card is fabulous Laurie.
ReplyDeleteI like your card a whole lot better than the store one!
ReplyDeleteAs I have mentioned before...Target is one of the BEST places for finding inspiration!!! Love how your card turned out!
ReplyDeleteI too used to spend hours looking at cards. Now, when I spend forever making a card, I remind myself of taking an hour to pick out THE perfect birthday card. The time is equivalent, so I try not to worry about my lengthy process anymore.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with your interpretation of the store's version, and I can see this with different colors or different sentiments such as 'an apple a day.' Another reason why you gotta love this craft.
If I can get the time to look in the store and make a card, I'll definitely play along. This is a great idea, Laurie.
This card rocks!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL - I take photos of things to use as inspiration all the time!! I love the original card, but yours really has a WOW factor. Love it!
ReplyDeletesooo cute, i take pics of cards in the aisle that catch my eye and use them for inspiration all the time! lol :) :) :) :) :) hugs!
ReplyDeleteNot at all surprised that your version of this card is SO much better than the inspiration! Of course the addition of the twine adds just the right amount of texture, something you don't see much of in the card aisle! Super cute!
ReplyDeleteYour apple cards are always so fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat teacher card!
ReplyDeleteLove this, Laurie! I think your card puts the store bought one to shame.
ReplyDeletefun challenge! I accept! ;) I'm off to Target to peruse the card aisles.
I like your version so much better. TFS
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome idea for a challenge!!! Love it! How long is it open?
ReplyDeleteSo love it and how you were inspired..I like yours better!
ReplyDeleteOooooooh! LOVE your card. THe great thing about making your own is that we can embellish! The twine just adds that little something extra! (not that one layer cards aren't fab too!) But yours is totally better! :D
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for inspiration. I too may be heading down the card aisle once more. :)
What a great idea for a challenge! Can I use parts of a (store bought) card I recieved for my birthday? Or should it be inspiration only taken from a card from the store?
ReplyDeleteI have actually used this idea before. I have the Hallmark card making program on my computer but haven't used it since I have been making cards. Thanks for reminding me to look there for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteAs always, love your cards.
Thanks for hosting Laurie! Fun Challenge! Love your card.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to head to the card aisle now! Your version is so cute! I need to use this set more as you know how much I NEEDED this one early on in our PTI days! :) I love the twine at the top too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun challenge Laurie! I would love to participate but we'll see! Great card BTW!!! One week plus to go! :)
ReplyDeleteDied in the card aisle last night...:)
ReplyDeletePicked one that was so super simple...
and so expensive...
for inspiration!
This was a lot of fun...
hope you start doing more challenges!
Such a great challenge Laurie! Thanks for giving me the creative push I needed. Your card is way better than the store card!
ReplyDeleteLaurie, that challenge was super duper fun!! Thanks for hosting it!! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad I stumbled on your challenge, Laurie! It was a great way to get inspired! I will definitely look to the card aisle more often!
ReplyDeleteFun challenge! As I noted in my blog post...I have more to work on from this challenge....so fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the challenge, Laurie. I just linked up :)
ReplyDeleteThis was fun, Laurie. Thanks for the push. I have three more cards waiting in the wings for me to use as inspiration. I learned that I need to spot by the card section more often.
