smile...

All these watercolor creations I'm seeing are making me want to watercolor everything.  In trying a few of these techniques, it's also teaching me to let go of my symmetrical, clean control.  ha!

I am using a couple more new sets from this May release over at PTI.  I stamped and heat embossed this background, from Background Basics: Venice, onto watercolor paper.  I don't have watercolors....yet....going to head to Hobby Lobby today....but I do have watercolor crayons.  So I scribbled 6 different colors, covering the card front and then added water in.

The new Wet Paint III from PTI is amazing!  A must have for your stash.  I stamped "smile" in Versamagic Black Onyx and then cut it out.  I wanted the sentiment to stand out but didn't want to hide the background, so I added in some chunks of tissue paper....also going against everything in me.  But I was happy with the end result.

Now I am going to go and watercolor something else.  Be back later.  :)

More PTI Release...

I have another card today for the latest PTI release.  I used 2 new stamp sets and a fun new die all in one card.  And I have a couple photos to share.

I used to "stage" my cards all the time and haven't for awhile.  I have been seeing so many gorgeous photos out in blog land lately, so I thought I would dust off some of my "props".  I have 2 different photos here.  If you have time, leave a comment and tell me which one you like better.

So here is my card for today...

I heat embossed the flower from Oopsie Daisey with Filigree Embossing Powder and then used some Pure Poppy just on the edge of the card.  I added in one of the new Circle Scribble dies and then layered it with a vellum sentiment.  This sentiment is one from the new Keep it Simple: Sympathy Mini Stamp set.

Here is the second photo....

I mostly use natural light but always struggle with what should go in the background.  The floor of my photos is several slats of real barn wood.  For some reason I can't change that.  I love the look of barn wood.

Ok, enough babbling.  I would love to hear what you think.  Thanks for stopping in today!  Hope your Sunday is relaxing!

I am using some more release goodies today for the new Retro Sketch challenge.  Here is my card for this week...

IMG_9641

I started this card by taking a 4' x 5 1/4" piece of Neenah and my Round Ink Blending tools and creating the background.  I actually started with Simon Says Fog ink, but quickly found that there was some green Mister Huey left on my stencil from a previous project.  So that gray background I wanted turned greenish blue.  I decided to keep it.  Normally it doesn't work that way but it was an ok mistake, lol!  Then I heat embossed the sentiment onto vellum and attached the butterfly to the front.  I didn't want the vellum to lay flat, so I heat embossed the edges some more so they would curl a little.  Then I used some Tombow Vellum adhesive and light attached the vellum to the card front.  With my ATG gun, I attached the whole thing to a Simon Says Fog card stock base.  To finish it off, I added some white enamel dots.

This new stencil?  FUN!  A must for your stash.  I can't wait to get some more of the new stencils from yesterdays release.  I am still trying....slowly but surely....to break free from my CAS ways.  ha! I need to learn to make a mess, that's all there is to it!  :)

Here is this week's sketch.   It is based on a gorgeous card by Kim Heggins.  Click HERE to see her original.

Stop over to the Retro Sketches blog to see what the DT has created for today's sketch and to link up your own card!

Reverse Confetti Color Challenge..

Scroll down for my Simon Says Release Hop post...

I am extremely late for today's Color Challenge over at Reverse Confetti.   But better late than never right?  Here is my card...

IMG_9635

I used my watercolor crayons and made a quick brush stroke watercolor background after I heat embossed the "SMILE" on the little die cut from the Class Act die set.  Before I adhered the sentiment to the card base, I took an iron and some scratch paper and ironed off all of the embossing. Now it just looks like I stenciled the words.  I haven't tried that before, but I think I will have to try it again now.  I also put a little piece of gray card stock peeking out of the bottom, just for a little contrast.

Here are some Color Challenge details straight from the Reverse Confetti blog...
