MFT Card Kit Release Day...

Today is kit release day over at My Favorite Things. The newest kit for January is called No Place Like Home.  It comes with 2 die sets, an adorable sentiment stamp set and several colors of card stock  so you can create your own cards just using the supplies in the kit.

I have a card here using the new kit and I combined it with Blueprints 14.  I rarely make square cards, but I thought these little houses would look so cute on the larger card.

I used a piece of woodgrain paper from the Trail Mix paper pack to cover the 5x5 card base.  I added in a layer of Sour Apple with the stitched panel and then a white piece for the main card front.  I added in some Jellybean with the scalloped detail.

Here is a little tip for something I have been using to plan out cards.  My CAS brain can get a little overwhelmed with little dies and their cute miniature matching pieces, so I decided to try something.  It's basically like mapping your card.

I cut out the base from the Blueprints and then cut out all the little piece of the home and tress in white card stock and did a little arranging to plan my card.

The nice thing about doing this is....

1. You can plan out what color goes where in your layout.
2. You can use Copics to color small pieces instead of cutting out more card stock.
3. You can leave several pieces white
4.  Its just a great way to eyeball your project and see the plan come to life.

I added a little Tumbled Glass Distress Ink in the background before gluing everything down and also colored the tree trunk with a couple different brown Copics.

The kit is available now over at MFT so head on over to the blog to see more samples using the kit.  I hope you enjoyed my card today.  So glad you stopped in!
