a card and an ink storage winner...

So I thought I would stop in with a card right quick.  I made this card the other day and I have been staring at it ever since.  I have voiced my issue with splatter or spritzing in the past and am always hesitant to try it.....but I did.  All the cards I see, out there in blogland, always look amazing!  But when I try it....I hate it.  I need control.  And splatter does not give any control.  SO, I pulled out my Copic airbrush and gave it a shot.....

When I realized that it needed more "splatter" than the actual misting it gave, you know what I did? I cheated.  Those black dots are stamped images.  I just took some dots and placed them around.  So now, tell me the truth, does my controlled splatter look bad?  I do realize that I need to give it up and just throw some paint down.  I promise, I will keep trying.  Thanks for coming along today, in my journey to control (or let go of control) the splatter.

PS...the paper I used above were scraps from the Simon Says March Kit.  I also used some vellum for the second butterfly.

OK so now for the winner of the Organize More Ink Storage.  I apologize hugely for not getting this done when I said I would.  Things got crazy this weekend and so here I am today.

The winner is....

  1. LOL! Laurie, I would have never known you "controlled" your splatter. It looks awesome. :) Thanks for sharing your great card.

  2. Looks great as usual!! I like the subtle spray- Try taking the top of your spray ink, and flick the end. It usually has a lesser effect than spraying.

  3. Gorgeous card, Laurie!
I feel the exact same way as you.... I love the look of splatter but struggle with it because, like you, I need to control exactly where it goes. I had one of those SU! ink sprayers but sold it. I loved the PTI Grunge Me set because I could add the "splatter" stamps but put them where wanted. And, no mess. :)

  6. Sheesh - I think that looks amazing. However, if I tried to recreate it, it'd look like a 4yo did it!!

  10. I like it! I feel much like you do - I love the spatter look but it never looks like "that" when I do it! : )

I would not have know your spatters were stamped. Great job!

  11. You crack me up, Laurie! I have a hard time with splatter myself. I try and try but 90% of the cards that I splatter, end up in the trash. I love your controlled splatter! I might have to give that a try. ;)

  13. Your controlled splatter looks great. When it comes to grunge I'm like you with splatter. All the grunge stuff which includes paint splatters looks great on cards on the web, but I can not seem to create the same look. But it looks like you have the paint splatter under control. :-)

  14. Isn't controlled splatter an oxymoron? ( two contradictory words to make one idea). Love the results you got!
