Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Iris & Watercolor Essential Set Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

I have always been intrigued by watercolor but have not every really jumped in to the extent I have today.  I called upon the incredible talents of my sweet friend, Lori Craig, for some tips in all things watercolor and I came up with this.....

To create this card (and, of course, I had to keep with a clean and simple vibe) I heat embossed this Iris image with black embossing powder on Altenew's Watercolor Paper and then started adding color.  Today I used the new Watercolor Essential Set from Altenew.  This is an amazing pan of 12 colors that have SO many possibilities for blended colors.  Lori explained principles of shading and using dark purples for shading nodes and leaves.  I was amazed at how the purples and greens worked together to create depth.

I used pinks to finish off all the blooms keeping in mind the light source for each petal.   The new Watercolor Essential Set made it so easy to blend colors to create this look.  

To finish off the card, I used Altenew's Black Obsidian Ink to stamp a simple sentiment on the card front.

In my FaceTime lesson, Lori taught me how to make my first watercolor chart....

I masked off the grid with very thin washi and then blended all the colors in the set (except for black).   
I did my best to keep with the same amount of color and water for each square and I was shocked at how many colors are available with this 12 color set.  The colors included in this pan are bright and bold and absolutely beautiful when mixed.

Thanks for being You {Picket Fences}...

Hi friends!  I hope your day is going well.  I know things are crazy right now and everything feels so weird.  We are staying in and hanging out and doing all the laundry and just staying busy!

I received an amazing package in the mail from Picket Fences and I wasted no time in playing.  I know I have said it before, but I am not big into coloring.  I always have a hard time with it so I generally pick stamps that are easy.  Quick and simple.  Well.....this stamp set?  Pucker Up from Picket Fences is SO easy to color.  I wonder if its the shadow lines on the edges?  But I officially love it!

First, I took the sentiment thanks for being you and stamped it repeatedly to create the background.  Next, I colored up those adorable lemons and leaves using Copics.  I die cut the image using the coordinating die and then cut another piece of fun foam too, to pop it up.  I added that to the card front with liquid glue.

Next, I heat embossed the sentiment on black cardstock and added the to the card.  I finished it off with some clear drops.

Happy Easter {Spellbinders}...

I have another card using the Spellbinders Glimmer of the Month Kit and the Large Die of the Month.  They work so well together!

I die cut the easter basket, the rabbit and the flowers from the Large Die of the Month Kit.  That basket is SO much fun with the embossed look and die cut pieces across the bottom.  Next, I hot foiled the eggs and the sentiment.

I attached the basket to a patterned paper lined card base and then layered in the foiled eggs.  I put the sentiment and the bunny on the from of the card to finish it off.

Altenew March 2020 Stamp/Die/Stencil Release Blog Hop + Giveaway


Good morning!  I am so excited for today's Altenew Release.  They have lots of new stamps, dies and a couple new gorgeous paper packs!  I have 2 projects to share so keep scrolling!  There are also prizes so check out those details as well as the full blog hop list.  


This first card was made using the new set called Fabulous Florets.

I kept this so super simple just to let those blooms shine!  I stamped the 2 blooms in the set with yellow inks and then stamped the leaves.

I added the blooms to the card front with foam tape and then tucked the leaves in behind.  I stamped the sentiment and then added in some clear drops to finish off the card.

Altenew has 5 new paper packs available today.  I used the new pack called Cheerful Meadow on this next card....

I cut down a piece of this gorgeous striped paper and then stamped this awesome new bloom from the set Lined Art in black ink.  I also added the sentiment from the same set.

I kept the card super simple by adding the stamped panel to the card front with fun foam.
