A customer request....and a Paper Dolls Challenge #26

Card making is such a stress reliever for me! I love to do it! BUT I love even more making cards for my customers! I have several gals who call and say...I need 5 Thank you cards, I need 4 Birthday's etc! So those custom orders are always so fun!

Here are 2 cards for a customer who picked out her colors from my little swatch book that I carry in my purse! She loves Damask so I knew that would be a hit! She just told me her sentiment needs and I went to work! Here are her cards....

IMG_7845

This one is Melon Berry, Dark Chocolate and Rustic Cream. I love the Damask print with the Canvas IP detail!

IMG_7844

The base on this one is Blueberry Pie! I didn't know how I was going to work with this color combo but I added some Tim Holtz Tea Dye Ink and "vintaged" it up a little! LOL!  I used Jennifer's sketch HERE for this card!  Stop over to the Paper Dolls blog and join us with Jen's sketch challenge this week!

Saddle Stitch Ribbon Flower Tutorial

This is my second post for today!  Scroll down to see our Flutterby Friend Mini Blog Hop!

Ok, I did something I have never done before.  Lets first read this disclaimer.

1. I sound funny!
2. I have no idea how to edit videos.
3. I barely know how to use the video function on my camera so its kinda blury!
4. I sound funny. (Edit to say it's really that I sound funny to myself!  Like Jen commented...I really do sound like me!  My sister says we have an inside voice and an outside voice.  My inside voice sounds nothing like my outside voice.  LOL!)

Ok so here's the deal....I had lots of emails and tutorial requests for the flower on this card.....

IMG_7742

So here goes. Please don't laugh. :)

Just incase this video doesn't work for you, here is the You Tube link....

Have a great day!

Flutterby Friends Mini Blog Hop

I am so excited to be here today with a few friends and some Flutterby Cards! When this set first came out I thought I didn't need it! Then I kept seeing cards using this set on Keva's blog and I knew after several cards I had to have it SO, Amy, Keva, Jen and I are having a mini blog hop just for Flutterby Friends! Hope you enjoy our creations today!  When you get to the end of this post you will find the links for their blogs!

I kinda got carried away and I have 3 cards for you!  Here is the first...

IMG_7820

I love this new Fillable Frame! I did a little masking here for the butterfly! And the embossing folder is a new SU folder! LOVE!

IMG_7822

This next card is another CAS! If you notice I have a monochromatic theme going on as well!

IMG_7816

I love the new Framed set! It really adds alot to a card! I just masked off the opening to make room for the Flutterby "Friend". I also added some Glossy Accents to the centers of the wings!

IMG_7818

And my last card....

IMG_7824

This one uses some new FAB Distressed Dots paper! I added a little distressing myself around the edge of the circle!

IMG_7828

I filled in the wings with Copics and then added glitter on top!  (And yes I got super messy with that for some reason!)

This stamp set is just too fun! So many possibilities! Now don't forget to check out the rest of these fabulous blogs on our little hop!!

Keva
Amy
Jen

Thanks for coming by today!  Hope you are having a great week!

October PTI Blog Hop

Welcome to the October PTI Blog Hop!

Here is this month's challenge....

There is always a lot of focus on Christmas in our industry this time of year, as that is what the majority of the population celebrates. However, this month's blog hop is dedicated to those that celebrate winter holidays other than Christmas. Create a project that celebrates Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or some other winter holiday as we embrace everyone's beliefs in a celebration of diversity through paper crafting.

Here is my card....

IMG_7774

I know sanding and distressing aren't my usual but I had fun with it!  I made the paper using the inspiration from PTI's Halloween paper!  I love that stuff!

Just a few pics to show you how I made that little "mat stack"!

IMG_7791

Just cut one out, flip it around, line it up with the bottom of the curve...

IMG_7794
And there you have a square frame...
IMG_7792

And I didn't end up using this piece for this card but I thought I would share....You can do the same with the circle of the mat stack and make the perfect mat for you 1 3/4" circle punch....I don't have the 2" punch so this works for those of us who don't have that tool!

IMG_7796

Just line up the circle with the opposite side of the mat stack....

IMG_7795

And you have that perfect circle mat!

I am not totally lost....

But I am in Colorado and loving it!  I am visiting my sister in Fort Collins and let me tell you...I do not want to go home!  I said over one Facebook I think I may stay forever!  Other than being ridiculously sick, we are having a great time!  I have received a few emails as to where I am, so I thought I would pop in and say hi and publish this post that I wrote up a couple weeks ago and never posted!  Thanks for your emails ladies!

So recently my friend Barb came over and I had the best Copic class ever!  I was so lucky to have her come and stay with me so you know I had to get some Copic hints!  She taught me how to do hair with that shiny highlight look! (Still working on perfecting that one but you can see my "first attempt" here!)

Oh and notice this too...NO ribbon, no buttons, no nothing.  Cardstock, ink and Copics!  This may be a first for me!

IMG_7360

Now I can't lie....Barb colored the overalls for me!  I wanted to see how and where she chose to put highlights in!  I am convinced that part of coloring takes an artists eye and I don't know if I have that!  I would have colored the overalls blue and darkened the areas around the creases!  She gave this little one a tummy and tushy and some all around dimension!

I do have to say that the skin, airbrushing and grass were all me!  I got an airbrush system last week and to tell you the truth I am scared of it!  But I managed to use PTI Cloud Dies for masks and made the sky super simple!  With 3 of Barb's green copics...yes she has TONS of colors...I made grass!  I was kinda proud of the grass!  :)  And the skin...she gave me a tut on that several months ago so I am still working but the shading on her chin is kinda working out here!

Anyway, thanks Barb for coming to stay!  Can't wait to see you again soon!  Thanks everyone for stopping by!

2S4Y-Kazan's Sketch #63

Here is Kazan's sketch for this week!

I knew I had to play along!  This is a fantastic sketch!  So many possibilities and interpretations!

So here is a color combo that is a little out of my norm!  I have a customer request with some pink, red, grey and bling!  I hope they will like it!

IMG_7583

LOVE those little roses!  Aren't they fab?  Amy told me she heard that a quilling tool would work the best for turning these little guys!  And boy does it work!  I have a pile of roses on my desk right now just from playing with the tool!

IMG_7584

So that is all for today!  Hope you are all having a great week!  Thanks for stopping by!
