Welcome to the first day of Group Posts for the March Papertrey Ink Release. Today is a fun day! It's all about birthdays. And cake. Yes, I said cake. This month there are several fun new products to turn your cards into a cake. Now don't get all excited....they don't actually taste like cake. ;) But the possibilities are endless as far as making your own paper crafting cake.
Here is my first card using the new set called Sprinkles on Top and a die cut sentiment from the Best Birthday Dies.
First, I heat embossed the sprinkles onto watercolor paper and then did a little rainbow wash on each of the 3 strips. I attached each strip to the scored card base. I used the sentiment that comes in the Best Birthday Die and did a little stack up of about 4 True Black sentiments. If I could redo this card, I would go back in and make the sentiments white. I just decided that as I sit here and type. :) And last I added some little star sequins to coordinate with the sprinkles.

This next project uses the Just Desserts stamp set and dies. I die cut a Tag Sale: Quilted Die out of white card stock and then added in a banner in Berry Sorbet for the sentiment.
Next, I stamped the cake in Lemon Tart and added in flowers to finish it off. Its very hard to see, but I heat embossed the Circle Scribble set in the background using some sparkle embossing powder. I added in some Berry Sorbet Saddle Stitched Ribbon and tied it off with some yellow twine.
And for the last card, I made a little iced up cake ON the card and then added in some Big Birthday Candles on top.
I stacked up the Frosted Border dies on the bottom of the card, after I head embossed a fun new stamp from the Script Swirls: Birthday set on the Aqua Mist base. I found some practice watercolor attempts (the ones I tried and they looked horrible but work for die cut pieces) and cut out the "12". I cut another set out of white card stock and then pulled out the centers and added them to the candles. I coated those in stickles for some sparkle. And that's that!
Head on over to Nichole's blog to see all of the sneak peeks for today. I can't wait to head over there and check it out myself!
Thanks so much for coming by today! I'll be back tomorrow with more to share!
