I recently saw this "Hello" on IG and did a small freak out. I love Danielle at Neat and Tangled and her lettering and by saying that I sound like a broken record. Because I have said it a bazillion times. So I went and bought it. And the die, of course! And then made this....
At a recent crafty weekend, I was completely inspired to try this whole watercoloring business. It's been hard for me but my sweet friend, Jen Shults, was there and she told me paint it up and then stop messing with it. I mess. A lot. I hate for there to be anything out of its CAS place....know what I mean? So because of her....and with her help....(she's an art teacher IRL!), I bought my first set of big girl brushes. :) I feel like I know what I am doing now....even tough I do not. And then my friend Audrey Tokach, she helped me with Zigs and told me all about watercolor papers. I came away from my crafty weekend determined.
So anyway, after painting this rainbow background, I stamped that lovely hello from Neat and Tangled....love! And then I added some rain stones to finish it off.

If you are like me and are scared of watercoloring, take Jen's advice. Quit messing with it. Let it dry. See what happens! :)
Hope you are having a great Monday! Thanks for stopping in!
Supply List:
Laurie, this is awesome! I love the horizontal, bright, wide stripes and then cut at a diagonal! And what's not to love about that script!!! Wish we all had someone close to give us hints like Jen and Audrey!!!

ReplyDeleteIt looks like you've mastered it! I love your original take of slicing it up - fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to cut strips on the diagonal. I need to practice my painting too.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty!! I love how you cut the strips into a diagonal like that!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you answer questions, but how did you get this lined up so PERFECTLY!!?? Wow!! I seriously need to know! :)
ReplyDeleteSo I've been afraid of water coloring and using Distress inks too. But made one last week and tried the other tonight. Thanks for the inspiration~and I love your stripes.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh I mess with it too!! I'll have to let it be. This is marvelous Laurie, you did a great job!!
ReplyDeleteLove this! It is perfect! I mess with watercolors, but I am terrified of the Color Bursts that sit in the drawer teasing me!

This is so cool! I like the watercolor stripes and then the way you cut on the diagonal. I never would have thought to do that! It looks awesome. I like the advice you got and gave. I will definitely have to remember that. :) Thanks so much for sharing and have lots of fun exploring watercolors.
ReplyDeleteI've watched a LOT of water coloring videos & came away with the same thought. The more you mess the worse it gets. Letting it dry makes all the difference! Great card!
ReplyDeleteIf 'what happens' is this? We should all be spending more time - or less? - messin' with it!!! Fabulous, Laurie!
ReplyDelete=]
This is AWESOME, Laurie!! Absolutely, love it!
ReplyDeleteLove every little bit of this...a lot! How you described your crafty week is exactly what I need. I love watercoloring, but by nature struggle so much with it. I even bought the zig markers. I've scribbled a bit, but still haven't actually made anything with them. Can't wait to see more of what you make!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card design and colors!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous, Laurie!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! I love it, and I have messing with it issues too!
