Yep this is my 400th post! WOW! I feel like it was just yesterday and Jen was telling me I should start a blog to post my cards! That was already 3 (ish) years ago and 400 posts later, I am here sharing a little DIY project and not something papercrafting related!
So I am super excited...this weekend was the craft show....and there was a garage sale going on at the same time! Of course, I had to go check it out when I found this....
My friend Laura was with me and she is really good at talking me into things so of course I bought it for $10! All I could see was me, a can of black spray paint and some upholstery! My furniture in my Living Room/Dining Room/Kitchen is mostly black! I have had lots of fun with black spray paint because of this! So I knew this little beauty was going to get a makeover! Here are a few more pics....
I got a can of black satin spray paint, an old rag, sand paper, some new foam and some clearance upholstery! Oh and a big staple gun! And I got to work!
I cleaned the whole thing with warm water and a old rag, sanded a little and then this....
After this, I took off the very nasty upholstery and added a new foam cushion and some new fabric using a big staple gun! Easy peasy! I think it turned out kinda fun for an amateur furniture fixer upper! :)
And then here it is finished...Here you can see how will it goes with the black wood furniture I already have! My dining room table...which I love so much...has black chairs with the oak table! Love it! Now this Telephone chair goes so perfectly right under that mirror! That big huge thing sticking out in my dining room is the chimney from the fireplace downstairs! Nice, right? I dislike that thing greatly! BUT it looks way better than when we moved in! It was surrounded by HUGE sheving and black formica countertops! omg was it outdated!
Just a few more shots....
Here are 2 more things I spray painted! This frame to this apple picture and the mirror! They were green and worked well in my old house but they just had to be black for my new house!
So thanks for stopping in on my 400th post! So exciting! I have had the chance to get to know so many sweet people and I have appreciated more than you know, all of the comments over the years! Thank you for following me along on this fun hobby called papercrafting! (And now home DIY stuff right?) :)
Have a great day!

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I love it! Firstly, I love little nook desks like that -- adorable -- but it turned out so amazing! I had no idea that refinishing could be that easy. Where did you find the foam cushion? What was your final investment in the piece?

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 400th post!! WOWZERS! That is something to celebrate, girl! You are amazingly talented! I always enjoy checking out your creations on your blog! Thanks for all of the inspiration!
I also wanted to say thanks for your sweet comments on my blog!!! I didn't realize you used to live in Colorado! I wish you still lived here so we could stamp together!!! We lived in Indiana for six years before moving here, so I completely understand what it's like to be surrounded by flat land and corn fields...*wink*.
Wow!!! Huge congrats on your 400th post!!!! Looking forward to the next 400 *wink*!!!!! Laurie, the magic your worked on the little telephone table!!! Wow!!! You are so darn creative! Love all the coordinating things your spray painted. Way to recycle - everything old is new again!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a fantastic job you did. I can't believe it is the "old" thing you bought last weekend. Looks so pretty in your home. You certainly have vision to know exactly what you would do with it when you saw it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job refinishing that baby, Laurie...and what a find! You have great taste in decor... I can tell visitors feel very welcome there! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your refinishing job on the telephone chair Laurie. You really turned trash into a treasure. You have a beautiful home and it is obvious you are not only a talented card maker, but talented in interior design as well. Congrats on your 400th post.
ReplyDeleteVERY nice Laurie! Love your decor! I have a couple of tables that I got rid of before we moved. I should have held on to them! Who knew it would be so easy to update them?! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis proves that you are a girl after my own heart! I long to find a diamond in the rough and fix it up. You made it look really easy! Good for Laura talking you into such a wonderful addition to your room...and for ONLY $10!! =)
ReplyDeleteYou have nice decor. Great job re-finishing your bargain telepone seat! Ironically, I too bought one at a yard sale for a bargain price! Since most of my furniture is old and prim or prim-style, mine pretty much fit my decor as it was. All I had to do was clean and polish it with Feed n Wax and recover the seat. I don't have any room to add more furniture to my home but I remember how fun it was to find and collect all the pieces and "make them mine!" Cool! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 400th post and what a wonderful job you did with this furniture! it looks absolutely amazing!!
ReplyDeleteWow, Laurie, this is incredible! I love the fabric you chose, it looks so good with the decor and the black furniture.
ReplyDeleteI've been very, very lucky to have your blog sent directly to my e-mail, but then I never pop over to your site to leave a comment! Just wanted you to know how beautiful your creations are and how I am so in awe of everything you make! This table/chair remake is truely remarkable and I hope you enjoy your gorgeous work for a very long time! P.S. I also wanted to thank you for your 12 days of XMas inspirations! Happy Holidays!
